Sole Gay and Lesbian Bar in Jerusalem Closes

Shushan, the only gay and lesbian bar in Jerusalem, closed in November after a four-year run. The establishment gathered Palestinians and Orthodox Jews in a city where recent plans for Pride parades have been targeted for violence. Clientele in search of LGBT nightlife may now need to travel approximately 60 miles to Tel Aviv, which holds a number of popular bars and events.
