“I’m allowed to be happy AND jealous right?” one fan joked.

Professional hockey player Carly “CJ” Jackson is officially off the market! The Seattle Torrent goaltender hard launched their relationship on Instagram this week, sharing a series of affectionate photos in celebration of their mystery woman’s birthday.

“My sweetheart, happy birthday,” reads the simple caption.

Although the post was light on details, the comment section quickly filled with congratulations from teammates and friends on the hard launch, none of whom seem remotely surprised about the news. Fans, on the other hand, jokingly mourned the news that one of the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s most recognizable queer stars is now spoken for.

“I’m allowed to be happy AND jealous right?” one person asked. “omg what a cutie too.”

“just dropped to my knees in the climate pledge arena parking lot,” another joked.

“On one hand I’m so happy for you. On the other hand I know this is a devastating upset to the single lesbians in the Seattle tri-state area,” read a third comment.

Jackson has long been a fan favorite among women’s hockey enthusiasts. The Canadian native made a splash at the University of Maine before being selected third overall in the 2020 National Woman’s Hockey League Draft. Since then, they’ve suited up for the Buffalo Beauts, Toronto Six, and Toronto Sceptres before heading over to the Seattle Torrent last year. As of 2025, they were also believed to be the only out nonbinary player in the PWHL.

Off the ice, Jackson has also been open about their queer identity. “I remember the first time I had gone on a date with a girl and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is how it’s supposed to feel,'” they told The IX Sports in 2022. “And it was just totally invigorating, like a weight I didn’t even know had been lifted off my shoulders.”
