Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and Doechii are among the many LGBTQ+ musical artists to snatch one (or more) Grammy nominations.
The nominees for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards were announced last Friday, lighting up the gay internet with excitement and a few questions (no nominations for Megan Thee Stallion?).
To nearly no one’s surprise, Chappell Roan secured six nominations, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year. Her song “Good Luck, Babe!” is also up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, alongside major artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and Sabrina Carpenter. Her final nomination is in the category Best Pop Solo Performance for the same track.
Billie Eilish will be facing off against Chappell in two categories: Album of the Year and Record of the Year for Hit Me Hard And Soft and “Birds of a Feather,” respectively. Eilish racked up a total of seven nominations, the highest number for any queer artist this year. Eilish is used to dominating the Grammys. In 2020 she accomplished the golden trio, winning best record, album, and song of the year. This year, she’s also looking to add Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance for “Guess” to her list.
Doechii, who recently released her mixtape Allligator Bites Never Heal, is the most nominated female rapper for the 2025 Grammys with a total of four nominations. She’s also up for Best New Artist, as well as Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance for “Nissan Altima,” and Best Remixed Recording for “Alter Ego (Kaytranada Remix).”
Speaking of Kaytranada, the gay DJ and producer has also been nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
Kehlani, who just wrapped up her Crash World Tour, snatched nominations for Best Progressive R&B Album, Best R&B Song for “After Hours,” and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Troye Sivan’s “Got Me Started” received a nomination for Best Pop Recording. Clario’s album Charm was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album. Lady Gaga secured two nominations for her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “Die With A Smile.“
Kali Uchis received a nod for Best Latin Pop Album, and WILLOW was nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals.
The 67th Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 5, 2025.
