Marjorie Taylor-Greene Slammed For Transphobic Comments On Nashville School Shooting

New York Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, aka AOC, immediately spoke out against the comments, calling them “disgusting.”

On March 27, a mass shooting occurred at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian private school in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville. Seven people were killed, including three children and three staff members.

The shooter was a 28-year-old transgender man named Audrey Hale, who was a former student at the school. He had a detailed map of the school and had been planning the attack for several months. He entered the school through the front door and opened fire in the hallway, killing three children and three staff members. he was then shot and killed by police. Hale was armed with two assault rifles and a handgun.

In a tweet following the attack, Marjorie Taylor-Greene took to opportunity to try to divert the attention from gun control to the fact that the shooter was transgender.

“She should be looking into a mirror as to why she’s defending and posing with the same weapons that are being used to kill children, teachers and educators,” she said.

Democratic activist Kevin Gaither joined AOC, asking Greene if she would consent to “the list of hormones all US representatives are taking for comparison.” Additionally, author Meena Harris wrote in a tweet “There is a special place in hell for people like Marjorie Taylor Green who use children being murdered as an opportunity to promote transphobia.”

According to Everytown, guns are the leading cause of death in children and adolescents. Additionally, there is no evidence that testosterone causes violence and no confirmation that the shooter was taking testosterone at the time of the shooting.
