Liza Treyger Embraces Being Messy And Dirty In New Comedy Special

“Phone, weed, diet coke. And, of course, Bravo in the background.”
Unapologetic and sharp-witted, Liza Treyger is not afraid to admit she doesn’t have it all together.
The 31-year-old queer, New York-based stand-up comic officially debuted her first Netflix special, Night Owl, on January 28. Whether it’s making an omelet with too many eggshells, taking a flight on molly, or loving the dirty water that comes off rugs getting power washed, the raspy-voiced comedian hilariously airs all her business out to the audience as if she were catching up with a friend.
Treyger’s humor ranges from her experiences growing up as an immigrant and hardcore stoner to painfully admitting she watches YouTube Shorts and knows too much about animal influencers rather than her family.

“I follow Teddy the shetland, this little horse, and like I know more about him than I know my nephew. What is my nephew up to? I’m not sure. Teddy? He just got a new saddle today. Double-tap. I’m on it,” she energetically gestures on stage.
Her hilarity extends beyond Insta-famous horses. She also jokes about the Green M&M, saying, “The last time I feel we were all united as a people—do you remember when they took the Green M&M’s boots away? That was fun. We all learned that we all wanted to f*ck her. Like, that was so cool. No matter who you voted for, everyone was like, bring back that whore. We need her lashes, please.”
Night Owl has been 15 years in the making for Treyger, proving good things can take time. This one-hour Netflix special is well worth the watch. Her dry, sarcastic, and smutty humor has led to her successful career and appearances in The Eric Andre Show, Comedy Central, and The King of Staten Island. You can also catch her co-hosting an SVU: Law and Order-themed podcast, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday.
Treyger will be taking her show on the road later this year in cities across the country, starting in Portland on Feb. 14. Get your tickets here.
