A prominent New York City LGBT advocate is calling for a boycott of Donald Trump’s business interests over Trump’s stated opposition to all forms of legal relationship recognition for gay and lesbian couples, the New York Daily News reports.
Trump, who’s weighing a bid for Republican presidential candidacy, earlier this month told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that he is anti-gay marriage and anti-abortion rights.
Adding salt to the wound, Trump told the Des Moines Register on Thursday, “[Gay couples] should not be able to marry. As of this moment, I would say ‘no’ and ‘no’” to both marriage equality and civil unions for same-sex couples.
Roskoff, who founded the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club in New York City, labeled Trump “an extreme bigot” and asked LGBT equality advocates to boycott Trump’s businesses, his show Celebrity Apprentice and the products advertised during it.
“Not only should gays be furious, we should be boycotting the products of the advertisers on his TV show, and certainly boycotting his s and hotels and apartment buildings,” Roskoff told the Daily News.
