‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will return to our screens on Thursday, March 6.

Grey’s fans are getting FED with delicious details for the show’s upcoming return. After a mid-season finale in November, the 21st season will pick back up on Thursday, March 6.

On Tuesday, the Shondaland show announced a new guest star will be “scrubbing in”: Emmy award-winning actress, producer, and screenwriter Lena Waithe.

Waithe will play Dr. Evynn Moore, a brilliant and savvy former student of Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen). Fox, whose foundation owns Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, has been struggling with cancer in recent seasons. Fans learned that things were taking a turn for the worse during the first half of season 21 and are now speculating the character may soon be killed off.

Shondaland has not revealed many details surrounding Waithe’s character, but we do know she will be helping with a “unique case” that involves her wife, played by Andrea Bordeaux, according to a Deadline exclusive. Thinking back to the wildest cases Grey‘s has brought to our televisions, there’s no telling what this new one could bring.

Waithe will be making her Grey’s debut in the season’s 10th episode, “Jump (For My Love),” which will air on ABC on Thursday, March 13.

The 40-year-old actress had her breakout role as Denise in Netflix’s Master of None. The 2015 comedy-drama series earned Waithe her writing Emmy. You may also recognize her from her role in Ready Player One. Waithe also created the Showtime series The Chi, as well as the BET comedies Boomerang and Twenties.

She began quietly dating Wicked star Cynthia Erivo in 2022. Erivo made it Instagram official (so you know it’s real) in May of that year, but they’ve kept relationship details to themselves. Since Wicked‘s epic premiere and the subsequent press surrounding Erivo, the couple has become more public. We’ve gotten a few glimpses of Waithe supporting Erivo at award shows and the couple was spotted sitting together at the NAACP Awards earlier this month.
