Actress, model, and lesbian it-girl Julia Fox is making her way back to the big screen to star in new lesbian movie Perfect.
Fox will play a rich pregnant woman living out an “escapist fantasy” at a rundown lakeside resort in California, according to Variety. The LGBTQ romantic film is set in a time where climate change has contaminated the resort’s water supply.
Perfect follows Fox’s character as she falls in love with a younger woman (I Know What You Did Last Summer’s Ashley Moore), but their sudden romance is thrown onto the rocks as a series of conflicts arise. As if the baby’s impending arrival wasn’t stressful enough for the couple, they’ll also have to deal with chaotic social events, conflicting values, and the world’s uncertain future.
Up-and-coming actress Micaela Wittman, known for her roles in Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, will play a local who befriends Moore’s character and helps guide her through her relationship difficulties. Lio Mehiel (Mutt) and Debi Mazar (Younger, Goodfellas) are reportedly in talks to join the cast.
Millicent Hayes, who has directed music videos for Adam Lambert and Lil Yachty, will make her feature film directorial debut. Production is expected to begin next month.
Fox has been booked and busy this year. She will also be seen in the psychological horror film Presence, set to release in January and produced by Steven Soderbergh. Next September, she can be seen in Him, a sports-related horror flick produced by Jordan Peele.
The pop-culture queen has recently opened up to fans about her personal life. Her 2023 best-selling memoir Down the Drain unveiled honest, shocking anecdotes and her determination for success. Fox opened up about her chosen family in a personal essay written for Elle this month, thanking them for putting her on the “right path.”
“It took years to find my chosen family, but when I did, something clicked,” she said. “It was magic. It was as if they could feel what I had desperately been missing and they willingly stepped into this void, offering me radical acceptance.”
