‘Happiest Season’ Finally Dropped A Trailer And We Can’t Wait For A Queer Christmas

Check out the trailer below!

If you haven’t put your decorations up, don’t freak out — it’s not Christmas yet. But we have been blessed with a bit of holiday magic to get us excited for what’s to come. “Happiest Season,” the Christmas rom-com starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis, has finally dropped its trailer.

The film follows Abby (Stewart) as she goes home with girlfriend Harper (Davis) for the first time during the holidays. “I just woke up thinking about going home with you and got VERY excited about Christmas,” Abby says in the trailer. “I get to go meet the people who made my favorite person.” While Abby is planning to propose to Harper during the visit, the whole thing becomes a little less magical when she realizes that Harper is not yet out to her conservative family.

Lesbian shenanigans abound in the trailer, meaning we can only expect more antics in the actual film. The movie also stars Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Mary Holland, Burl Moseley, Victor Garber, Mary Steenburgen, and Dan Levy — who plays Abby’s best friend John.

The film has the distinction of being the first holiday film centering an LGBTQ+ couple produced by a major studio. It’s directed by celesbian pop culture superstar Clea Duvall, who told Insider that she had based much of the movie on her own experiences, as well as adding in nods to cinema classics like “The Birdcage” and “The Family Stone.”

“Happiest Season” was originally slated for a theatrical release, but due to coronavirus, the film was moved onto Hulu for a home release. You can catch the premiere of “Happiest Season” on November 25th.
