USA’s Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Wins Gold in 400 m Hurdles, Breaks Her Own Record for the 6th Time
It’s been 5 years since Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has not come in first, and yesterday’s 400 m hurdles were no different. She beat her competition with ease, crossing the line at 50.37 seconds, beating her own world record for the 6th time. She became the first woman to ever win the 400 m hurdle gold twice, let alone back-to-back. She was joined on the podium by USA teammate Anna Cockrell, who won silver, and The Netherlands’ Femke Bol.
USA’s Tara Davis-Woodhall Wins Gold in Long Jump
Tara Davis-Woodhall, self-proclaimed “America’s Cowgirl” jumped to victory in the long jump finals with a distance of 7.10 meters. She was greeted after her final jump by her tearful husband Hunter, who is a Paralympian. Her USA teammate Jasmine Moore won bronze, and Germany’s Malaika Mihambo won silver.
Raven Saunders Debuts Their Alter Ego, Advances to Shot Put Final
Nonbinary shot putter Raven Saunders won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, but they are hoping their alter ego can take them to gold this year. Saunders has transformed into the “Hulk” version of themselves: split-dye purple and green hair, full face mask and sunglasses, Olympic grills, and one hand with mega-long bedazzled acrylic nails that spell out “HULK.” Finals are this afternoon, and we’ll be tuning in to see what The Hulk unleashes.

USA Women’s Water Polo Knocked Out by Australia in Sudden Death Shoot-Out
Team USA’s dreams of getting a 4th consecutive water polo gold medal were drowned by a neck-and-neck game with Australia. It came down to a sudden death shoot-off, and Australia ended with the win. If there is a silver lining (no pun intended), with the support of Flava Flav, the interest in water polo has significantly increased, and the hopes that the game will grow are looking promising.
