Brooklyn’s beloved lesbian bar is marking 25 years in style with a three-day St. Paddy’s Day celebration.

For 25 years, Ginger’s has been serving up strong drinks, stronger community, and a safe haven for queer joy. To mark the occasion, the Brooklyn staple is about to throw a three-day celebration over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, running from March 14 to March 16.

The bar took to Instagram to announce the festivities, emphasizing the importance of LGBTQ+ spaces in the face of ongoing threats to queer rights. They’re doubling down on their mission of creating a space for “queer joy, resistance, community, and love”—and what better way to do that than with live music, dancing, and DJ sets that will make your shamrocks shake?

Saturday, March 15 is the night to clear your calendar for. The party kicks off at 5 PM with The Shanties bringing their rollicking, high-energy sound to the stage. Then, DJ Candy Warhol will be spinning tracks deep into the night. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to let loose and dance your face off, this is it.

If you’re more of a daytime partygoer, Sunday, March 16 is your time to shine. Doors open at 4 PM, and the vibes will be set with traditional Irish music, because what’s a St. Paddy’s celebration without a little Riverdance moment? It’s all about keeping the spirit of community alive and honoring the bar’s Irish roots (shoutout to Sheila Frayne, aka the OG Ginger herself).

“Ginger’s has always been more than just a bar—it’s a home for the queer community created by my business partner, the original Ginger, Sheila Frayne,” Brendan Donohoe, the bar’s operating partner, said in the announcement. “For 25 years, Ginger’s has been a space where people can be themselves, nurture community, celebrate their identities, and build lasting connections.”

Beyond the Guinness and the glitter, Ginger’s 25th anniversary is also a moment to recognize the crucial role lesbian bars play. “As the number of lesbian bars in the U.S. has dwindled and attacks on the trans and queer community occur almost daily, Ginger’s remains a testament to the enduring need for dedicated queer spaces. The anniversary serves as a reminder of the bar’s deep roots in the community and its ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming safe environment for all,” the announcement reads.
