All Of The Queer Chaos From WNBA All-Star Night One

Courtney Williams

WNBA All-Star Weekend got off to a chaotic start as basketball stars partied together.

It’s officially All-Star Weekend for the gayest league in sports. Stars from across the WNBA have descended on Indianapolis, and one night in, hilarity has begun to ensue.

From drunk dancing, multiple lesbian hard-launches, and overall madness, the first official night was as dramatic as could be. Here’s what you may have missed:

Paige Bueckers Officially Calls Azzi Fudd Her Girlfriend

After weeks of suspected ‘hard-launches,’ Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers confirmed her relationship with former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd. In a video with Wagtalk, a social media account that interviews WAG (Wives and Girlfriends) of professional athletes, Bueckers answered questions about Fudd’s career.

@wagtalk Ask and you shall receive- PAIGE BUECKERS EVERYONE 💗 @isomaddy @WNBA #WNBAAllStar2025 #paigbueckers #azzifudd #uconn #WNBA #couplegoals ♬ original sound – wagtalk

Near the end of the video, Bueckers was asked what Fudd’s phone case said on it (in reference to an internet-breaking selfie posted by Fudd), to which Bueckers answered, “It says Paige Bueckers’ Girlfriend.”  When the host said “girlfriend reveal, it’s…” Bueckers smiled and said, “Azzi Fudd.”

It has been quite the week for #pazzi shippers after Bueckers posted a photo of Fudd on her story with some flustered emojis, featured a cute photo of her and Fudd in her most recent Instagram photo dump, and now has officially confirmed their relationship with her own words. We used to pray for times like these.

Are Marina Mabrey and Saniya RIvers Still Trolling Us?

If you’re a fan of all things WNBA, odds are you’ve seen the evolution of Connecticut Sun players Marina Mabrey and Saniya Rivers. Mabrey, whose online presence has always been famous in the league, started doing livestreams with Rivers earlier this season. As the duo has spent more and more time together, speculation grew that there might be some romantic energy brewing.

In the past few weeks, Mabrey and Rivers have been leaving suggestive comments on each other’s posts, doing couple-esque TikTok challenges, and have been spotted getting physically close at games. Fans were torn on whether or not the two basketball players were simply playing into the fan interest or really developing feelings for each other.

During Thursday night’s activities, the two were seen getting close on the dance floor. Additionally, the duo made some couple-esque comments on the StudBudz livestream (fear not, we’re saving their chaotic night for last). When one of the StudBudz asked Rivers, “Where the bad b*****s are,” Mabrey quickly came over and said Rivers didn’t need to worry about that because she and Mabrey were there together. Okay territorial girlfriend energy, go off!

StudBudz Livestream Stirs the Pot

The greatest part of this year’s All-Star Weekend has been the StudBudz, Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, and their 72-hour livestream covering the entire event. The Minnesota Lynx duo started doing Twitch livestreams at the beginning of the season and quickly took off among WNBA fans due to their humor, queerness, and chaos.

Because of their livestream, fans are getting a peek into the All-Star Weekend like never before. One of the first chaotic moments of Thursday’s events was when Williams and Hiedeman confirmed a long-rumored romance between New York Liberty’s Marine Johannes and Seattle Storm’s Gabby Williams. After Courtney Williams playfully flirted with Gabby Williams on the stream, she apologized to Johannes when she saw her saying, “I know all y’all trying to act like I was trying to take her woman, I wasn’t. I love your woman.” Johnannes, who has never spoken about her relationship publicly, just stood there quietly.

After exposing a private relationship, things only got messier at the afterparty. Hiedeman, who goes by “T,” started flirting relentlessly with WNBA icon Angel Reese.

When T continued to follow Reese around the party, fellow queer WNBA All-Star Dijonai Carrington became a mother and pulled T back from making any more drunken flirting decisions. Imagine if the NBA had this level of insanity.

The StudBudz spent the rest of the night on the dance floor and seemingly chose to forget that they had an earlier practice on Friday morning. If this is the amount of shenanigans that we got from one night of All-Star Weekend, we can’t wait to see what happens next.
