Sia Furler

When Sia Furler’s heartfelt downtempo melodies played over the final moments of the HBO series Six Feet Under, the country fell in love with the singer/songwriter. The song, “Breathe Me,” became an instant classic and paved the way for the successful U.S. release of Sia’s fourth album, Some People Have Real Problems. In the past year, she has collaborated with Christina Aguilera for the latter’s newest release, Bionic, and put the finishing touches to her own upcoming fifth album, We Are Born. “I can write a song in two hours. It doesn’t mean I’m a good songwriter, but it does mean I can write fast, and we can then lose what is shit and what is good,” Sia says. “I think that’s why I’m in demand as a songwriter for other artists: because I’m prolific.” Originally from Australia, Sia has relocated to New York City, where she is planning on having a baby later this year with partner JD Samson. -EZ
