Rescue Dog Goes Viral After Post Requests He Only Be Adopted By Lesbians

Tommy is so real for not wanting to live with men.

A dog is going viral after a request went out for him to get adopted specifically by lesbians—and some men apparently got big time mad about it.

North Carolina-based STAB (Saving the “Aggressive” Breeds) Rescue took to Facebook last week seeking a home for Tommy, a good boy who, according to the post, is “looking for two moms who will call him ‘our son,’ buy him an unnecessary amount of enrichment toys, have at least 14 throw blankets on the couch, and discuss his emotional needs over an oat milk latte.”

They further specified that Tommy is friendly with both other dogs and cats, and that they will adopt him to heterosexuals, but will be “slightly disappointed that his destiny as the beloved freeloading son of two lesbians was never fulfilled” in that scenario.

It didn’t take long for the post to gain traction online, where it was mostly met with equal enthusiasm from people hoping Tommy finds his dream home (and some even offering to see if that home might be theirs).

“I love this! Two moms are better than one right Tommy,” one person commented. “and I can confirm lesbians do offer this type of home.”

Despite the overwhelming positive response online, apparently some men made this attention-grabbing post seeking a home for just one of the rescue’s many available dogs all about them and their oppression, prompting the rescue to write up a response from Tommy himself.

“I simply do not want you,” the post reads, addressing the “men personally victimized” by the request for a lesbian home. “My foster moms are women. I adore them. Women are my people. I have spoken.”

The controversy also prompted people in the comments to point out that rescues specifying a dog would do better in a household without men is not particularly uncommon. This particular rescue just opted to do so in a way intended to gain attention for Tommy.

But that doesn’t mean Tommy doesn’t deserve the perfect sapphic home; the rescue is currently still accepting applications for his adoption via their website.
