Love Takes Center Court as Phoenix Mercury Dancers Get Engaged
Tara Otting and Alex Soto brought the love to the Mortgage Matchup Center on Thursday night.
Phoenix Mercury Hip Hop Squad dancers Tara Otting and Alex Soto brought the love to the Mortgage Matchup Center during the Mercury’s Thursday game with a surprise halftime engagement.
After hitting a half-split, Otting was surprised by Soto who had snuck to the front of the dance troupe and dropped down on one knee. After Otting said ‘yes’ and the ring was slipped onto her finger, with a chorus of screaming dancers behind them. the couple shared the sweetest hug.
Both Otting and Soto have been fixtures in the Phoenix athletics world, each having dances for the Mercury for four seasons. Otting also dances with the Suns Dancers for the Phoenix Suns, whom she has danced with for four years. Soto previously worked as a dancer for the San Antonio Spurs Hype Squad.
The couple officially hard-launched their relationship in June 2022 with Otting writing, “World, I would love to introduce you to my girlfriend Alex. She’s the most beautiful person I’ve ever met. Alex, thank you for constantly making my life beautiful, making me smile, and sharing your beauty with everyone around you.”
Soto hard-launched a day later writing, “Experiencing the kind, beautiful, radiant presence that is your love has inspired me. Thank you for helping me grow through our journey. Thank you for loving all my messed up parts. And thank you for coming all the way from Ohio to make my life complete. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met and ur not going anywhere.”
Outside of dance, both Otting and Soto work at pilates instructors in Phoenix and Otting also works as a licensed esthetician.
