New Video Shows Police Pointing Tasers at WNBA Stars Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale

Out WNBA player Paige Bueckers had a Taser pointed in her face when her also out Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale was arrested in March, police video shows.

Obtained by the tabloid the California Post, the video shows the arrest outside a nightclub in Miami on March 5 around 4:20 am, the outlet reports.

Bueckers and several of her teammates were celebrating teammate Arike Ogunbowale’s championship victory in the Unrivaled women’s basketball league when the club told them to leave.

The tabloid reports that authorities said Ogunbowale allegedly punched a security guard for the club “in the face with a closed fist” as they were escorted out.

When Ogunbowale got outside the guard told police she had assaulted him and an officer went to arrest her.

As the officer took her wrists, Bueckers and other teammates tried to persuade the officer to let her go, according to the Post.

As more of Ogunbowale’s friends gather around them, the cop pulls his Taser and tells them to get back.

In the video, Bueckers puts her arm around her teammate and says, “We got her.”

The police officer then points his Taser at Bueckers and demands that she let Ogunbowale go.

The officer then detains Ogunbowale and puts her in the back of a police car.

A police report stated that officers looked at CCTV footage at the club and it corroborated the guard’s allegations, ESPN reports.

Ogunbowale was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery. Local prosecutors dropped the charges in May, according to ESPN.

“We are pleased that the State Attorney’s Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward with this matter,” Ogunbowale’s attorney, Mitch Schuster of Meister Seelig & Schuster told ESPN at the time. “Ms. Ogunbowale is a person of outstanding character, and we are excited that these charges have been dismissed so she can resume her focus on her professional career.”
