Kehlani Reschedules Two Shows After Hospitalization & Health Issues
Some fans weren’t thrilled with the abrupt change.
Kehlani announced the abrupt cancellation of two of her concerts after being hospitalized this week.
The singer is a little less than halfway through the North American leg of her current tour, with shows scheduled on the east coast this week. But fans in New Jersey and the Maryland area had to hit pause on their concert-going plans after Kehlani shared that she’s been struggling with some serious health issues.
“after two off days feeling completely normal.. ive been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain,” she posted via Instagram on Wednesday night. “i just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows.”
The singer also specified that her team is “working on a solution” regarding her shows scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of this week, but she’s still hoping to resume her tour in Virginia on Saturday.
“breaks my heart to have to ever do this,” she added. “i do everything i’m supposed to to ensure my health stays up to par & it still isn’t guaranteed.”
While a number of fans were understanding of the situation, others expressed their frustration that the cancellation occurred so close to the scheduled concert in Camden, NJ.
“Girl ifwy and I hope you get better but 3 Hours before the show is diabolical and i feel…inconsiderate…especially when a lot of us had to prepare travel etc,” one person replied. “Freedom Pavillion isn’t canceling the event and won’t return our ticket money.”
“i never understood until i started on tour and had to try to sing sick,” @brays.anatomy wrote. “it makes the recovery even harder if you push yourself when you should be healing. i hope your fans understand.”
Kehlani just recently opened up to Billboard about the importance of having a daily routine that supports her mental and physical wellbeing, noting that she takes medication for her bipolar diagnosis and makes a point to do things like go to the gym, do yoga, and spend time in nature.
“I have to have a routine supporting my wellness so I can freaking survive,” she said.
As of Thursday morning, both shows have been rescheduled for next month. Kehlani will perform in Camden on September 5 and Columbia, MD, on September 6.
