Donald Trump on Monday expressed his opposition to marriage equality on the Fox New Channel
Possible Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday appeared as a guest on Greta Van Susteren’s Fox News show and expressed his opposition to marriage equality, among his other political beliefs.
When Van Susteren inquired about Trump’s position on same-sex marriage, he told her, “No, you know, I’m just not in favor of gay marriage. I live in New York. New York is a place with lots of gays, and I think it’s great, but I’m not in favor of gay marriage.”
Trump also stated his views on other hot-button political issues, including his anti-abortion views and his backing of amped-up military might.
“I am probably as conservative as anybody on your show, and that’s going a pretty strong step,” Trump said. “I’m a Republican, I’m a very conservative Republican. I believe strongly in just about all conservative principles.”
We can’t help but wonder how Mr. Trump and other self-proclaimed “conservatives” rationalize equating the denial of marriage rights to gay people with the “less intrusive federal government” they habitually clamor for.
