Portia de Rossi takes name of wife, Ellen DeGeneres
Blonde bombshell Portia de Rossi has now officially taken the last name of her wife, Ellen DeGeneres.
de Rossi’s name change was granted during a closed hearing in Los Angeles on Thursday. The Arrested Development star will now legally be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
"I am thrilled to legally adopt my wife’s name. I will continue to use Portia de Rossi for professional purposes," said the former Ms. de Rossi in a statement.
DeGeneres and de Rossi began dating in 2004 and were married in August 2008 during the all-too-short six-month time period in which gay and lesbian couples could legally wed in California.
