The 2022 Golden Globe nominations are out, and some of our favorite out ladies are among the year’s nominees.
Kristen Stewart and Lady Gaga both received the nod for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Stewart for her role as the late Princess Diana in “Spencer” and Lady Gaga for playing Italian socialite and fashionista Patrizia Reggiani in “House of Gucci.”
Both Lady Gaga and Stewart have received critical acclaim for their performances. Stewart has been a frequent nominee, and winner, on this year’s awards circuit. Lady Gaga took the top award for Best Actress for her role in “House of Gucci” from the New York Film Critics’ Circle.
In the television category, MJ Rodriguez was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Series for her turn in the final season of the hit show, “Pose.” Earlier this year, Rodriguez made history by becoming the first out trans actor nominated for an Emmy in a major acting category for her role in the hit FX show.
Rodriguez also appeared in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Tick, Tick … Boom!”, which was nominated for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.
Her “Pose” co-star, Billy Porter, was also nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy of Musical Series.
For her role in the film, “Passing,” praised for its queer subtext, Ruth Negga received the nod for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Negga played opposite out actress Tessa Thompson in the historical drama, which follows the reunion of two friends in 1920s Harlem.
