Controversy for Young Lesbians of Color: Correction and Update

Correction to May article, "April Showers Being Controversy for Young Lesbians of Color"

Last month, in “April Showers Bring Controversy for Young Lesbians of Color,” we incorrectly reported that all seven women involved in the incident with a man who allegedly propositioned them and made homophobic comments outside the IFC Theater last August were convicted of assault on Apr 18 and face significant prison terms.

Of the seven women involved, four were convicted on Apr 18. They are Venice Brown, 19, Terrain Dandridge, 20, Renata Hill, 25, and Patrice Johnson, 20, all from New Jersey. The three other women involved in the incident pleaded guilty to attempted assault previously and were sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation.

Sentencing for the four women convicted on Apr 18 was scheduled for May 17, but it was delayed. The sentencing will now take place on June 14.
