4 Adorable Lesbian Couples Get Hitched In Australia’s First Same Sex Weddings

After Australia’s citizens voted overwhelmingly in favor of gay marriage, it’s time for some gays to get married!

January 9th was supposed to be the first possible date for queer weddings, but the waiting period was waived for four couples because of travel and health reasons.

Lauren Price and Amy Laker were married in Sydney on December 16. The wait period was lifted for their relatives that traveled overseas. Congrats ladies!

Cas Willow and Heather Richards were married in Melbourne on December 18th. They were granted permission to wed early because Willow is receiving treatment for breast cancer, which has spread to her brain. Cas and Willow have been together for 17 years, and say that their marriage will make the end of their time together “complete.” Yes, I’m crying.

Amy and Elise McDonald were married in Melbourne on December 16. The wait period was lifted for their relatives that traveled overseas. I am feeling this black and white dress look. Tres chic.

Anne Sedgwick and Lyn Hawkins wed on December 17. They were given dispensation because Hawkins is in the final stages of her battle against ovarian cancer. Anne and Lyn have been together for 40 years.  My heart!

Congratulations to these beautiful couples, and to the people of Australia, for proving that Love Always Wins.
