The 1st Annual International Lesbian and Sapphic July 4th Picnic

Join us for the FIRST International WLW July 4th Picnic! We welcome lesbian, sapphic and queer women (spouses/partners and family are welcome). Please dress in rainbow colors, bring your own food/drinks (this is not a potluck) and something to sit on (portable camping chair, picnic blanket, beach towel, yoga mat, etc.). Unless the space does not accommodate us doing so, please sit in one HUGE heart shape so we can include everyone. There will be a photographer taking an overhead group photo of us at some point during our event. I will host some ice breaker games and get-to-know-you activities. There will be fun prizes and free giveaway raffles.

Look for the landmark ‘Parachute Jump’ (disabled ride but it is huge and is lighted at night), rainbow umbrellas and shiny pom poms upon arrival. Depending on the crowd we may move further west so we can have more space for our growing group. The venue and neighborhood will be crowded so please plan ahead! Avoid driving or taking anything other than public transportation to this venue. The subway train station is called ‘Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue’ and the trains to get there are D, N, F and Q.

If you would like to watch the world famous Nathan’s hot dog eating contest the women’s contest starts at 10:45AM and the men’s contest starts at 12noon.

The Fireworks show starts at around 9:30pm.
