Dyke(umentary) Night at LHA: “L is for the way you look” & Lesbian Avengers
June 21 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm EDT

L is for the way you look is Jean Carlomusto’s cult classic short film that pieces together lesbian history from fragments of gossip and memory. At its heart is the retelling of a rumored Dolly Parton and Fran Lebowitz sighting at a Reno performance. The film offers a witty and inventive portrayal of a community’s ongoing struggle for visibility and recognition.
Lesbian Avengers Eat Fire Too, by Su Friedrich and Janet Baus, provides a rare insider’s perspective on the first year of the New York-based group, tracing their journey from a groundbreaking demonstration outside an elementary school in 1992 to the Dyke March in DC, where the Avengers ate fire in front of the White House.
Jean Carlomusto and members of the Lesbian Avengers will provide post-screening remarks! As always, in typical LHA fashion, tickets are suggested donation only, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Doors at 5:30pm. Film starts promptly at 6:00pm. Run time for both films is 80 minutes . Snacks provided. Masking is not required, but highly encouraged. Browsing LHA materials is restricted due to the presence of food.
