CC Goths Meetup: Playlist Picnic @ Gothic Bridge
Calling all Covid Conscious goths! Join us at the Gothic Bridge in Central Park for our first ever event on July 11th: a playlist picnic and crafting session!
We’ll be creating a playlist based on your recommendations & favorite goth tunes (either suggest those here or wait to add your songs in person!), so that we can all share our faves with each other and hopefully expose attendees to new artists and songs to add to their own playlists.
We’ll have some collage supplies available for anyone feeling crafty, as well as some baked goods/ treats + goth band buttons available for sale to help us fundraise for future events. Our event organizer Lottie will also be bringing some of their goth subculture magazines and photo books if anybody else would like to bring fun relevant reading material to share!
BYO blanket if you can, as space will be super limited and we will only be providing 3-4 picnic blankets. If you don’t have a proper picnic blanket, you can use an old towel, bedsheets, tablecloths, and other things like that in a pinch!
What is Masked Goths NYC?
Are you tired of going to shows and being the only one masking? Do you have difficulty engaging with your local scene because nightlife (busy bars, crowded concert venues) isn’t really your thing? Do you ever struggle to feel safe as a queer person, even when others in your scene claim to be “allies”?
Masked Goths of NYC is a social group for Covid Conscious queer goths seeking a sense of community in the NYC scene. Nobody should have to feel excluded from their subculture just because they want to keep themselves (and others) safe! We aim to create an environment where CC goths can come together and build community through accessible + Covid safe(r) events and meetups. MGNYC seeks to prioriritze trans, disabled, and nonwhite goths as we work to create spaces in a scene we often feel excluded/erased from. Masks (KN95 or better), provided and required, always.
Accessibility
High-filtration masks/respirators (KN95 or better) will be required and provided for all attendees to participate in this picnic. We are a Covid Conscious events group, and require masks at all of our events in order to keep our events accessible to our disabled + immunocompromised community members who are often disregarded when it comes to programming/events. Masking is one of the easiest ways we can all practice community care, and it takes so little to automatically make a space safer! 🙂
If you are feeling sick (even if you don’t think it’s COVID), have recently been exposed, or in a high-risk situation, we ask that you please stay home! This is how we keep each other safe.
This is a picnic, so feel free to bring drinks/snacks/lunch! We will have a small selection of baked goods + drinks for sale, in order to help us raise funds for future events. Since this is a CC event, we expect folks to keep their masks on while not eating/drinking. Please check in with your neighbors before unmasking, to check comfort + risk levels. 🙂
Gothic Bridge is in Central Park, located an eight minute walk off the A/B/C train, eighteen minute walk off the 1/2/3 train, a nineteen minute walk off the 4/5/6 train, and a seven minute walk off the M96 bus.
