Black Lesbian Saturday School (BLSS) Presents “Archiving Black Butch-Femme/Stud-Femme Love” Event
February 21 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST
Free
On February 21st, from 2-6PM, we’re hosting an afternoon archiving Black butchfemme/studfemme love stories. We will browse LHA materials related to Black butchfemme/studfemme relationships and give participants the opportunity to record and/or contribute ephemera from their own personal love stories to LHA’s collections. Celebrating your 10 year? Met by chance on the subway? Just had your first date and looking for what to do next? We want to hear how you met, what you think of your love, and what the life looks like for you.
We’ll have Polaroids and a few other treats on deck. Couples are encouraged, and singles who identify as butchfemme are welcome too. Tell us about a past love, future love, or thoughts in between!
Here’s a sample agenda: there will be time for introductions and framing, semi-independent exploration of the archives, and group discussion on the main theme. The materials we select and our insights, with consent, will be summarized into a study guide that will live in the LHA collection.
There are relatively very few spaces with this specific focus for Black lesbians, so we’d like to better understand what folks have on their minds for our first event of this kind.
