Roundup of the 5th Annual Nightlife Awards

Almost a thousand of New York City’s finest women descended on Hell’s Kitchen on May 1 for GO Magazine’s Nightlife Awards, the fifth annual extravaganza honoring the movers and shakers who keep our drinks cold, dance floors rocking and party calendars full.

Just before the lively red carpet, scores of girls flocked to the table hosted by the presenting sponsor, Olivia, and signed up for its latest luxury cruise.

At the step-and-repeat, VIPs—like the 187 fabulous promoters, DJs, go-go dancers and nightlife impresarios nominated for awards, plus visitors like Lauren Russell and Amanda Leigh Dunn from season 3 of The Real L Word—posed for the cameras and offered a few words for the video crews from numerous media outlets. Guests got their drink on as statuesque singer-model Doxi Jones busted out her ear-tickling single “Die For You” with a high-energy performance. Sophia Urista entertained the crowd with powerful vocals and a bevy of sensationally sexy backup dancers. Between sets, DJ Zuleica and DJ Lezz Van Halen spun a kinetic mashup of house, electro and dance tracks on a killer sound system.

Hunter Valentine—the newest NYC cast members of The Real L Word—stormed through a two-song set that left the audience panting for more. Emcee Murray Hill, GO publisher/editor-in-chief Amy Lesser, and The Real L Word star Romi Klinger then announced the winners of the coveted GO Magazine Night Award plaques. Big winners of the night included Henrietta Hudson (with nods for Best Manhattan Bar, Best Pickup Spot, 2 Best Bartender awards and Favorite Doorperson), Maggie C Events (Best Party Overall and Best Annual Pride Party for Stiletto, Best Ambiance for Crème de la Femme), and Stonewall Inn, which won Best Bar Overall.

Plus, the bash raised $3,000 for Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, New York City’s only health facility dedicated to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Check gomag.com for photos of the event!
