Lola Young stepped onto the Grammy stage on Sunday night to sing “Messy” and sounded anything but.

The performance marked her first televised appearance since collapsing during a New York show in September 2025 and stepping back from public life. Young returned to the spotlight with a stripped-back, emotional performance of her viral hit, a standout from her 2024 album This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway. The song appeared during the ceremony’s Best New Artist medley, alongside performances from Addison Rae, Olivia Dean, and KATSEYE.

Later in the night, Lola Young won her first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance, beating out Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, and Chappell Roan. Accepting the award, she said, “I don’t have any speech prepared. Obviously, I don’t. It’s ‘Messy,’ do you know what I mean?” She later added, “I’m very, very grateful for this.”
