On Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live this week, Julia Fox opened up about the long-rumored Madonna biopic that’s been stuck in development for years. The actress shared her insight into her role (or is it her role?) as actress Debi Mazar, Madonna’s longtime friend, and where it stands in the film’s complicated journey.
Madonna has been working on the screenplay since 2020, initially with Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody, and Ozark’s Julia Garner was tapped to portray the Queen of Pop. Fox was set to play Mazar, but she playfully acknowledges that she might have “aged out” of the role.

“I feel like they met when Debi was like 15… I don’t think I’m the right person,” she said, adding that Mazar’s daughters might be a better fit.
