Fall for Dance Festival, The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China

New York City Center will reopen following the restoration of its landmarked building with the eighth annual Fall for Dance Festival, running Oct 27-Nov 6. The Fall for Dance Festival has received national and international recognition for its quality, innovation and success in introducing new and younger audiences to the world of dance. Since its inception, the festival has presented 145 different dance companies to more than 150,000 dance enthusiasts for just $10 per ticket. This year’s two-week festival will showcase 20 national and international companies and choreographers including performances by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, Jessica Lang Dance, Liz Gerring Dance Company, New York City Ballet and Trisha Brown Dance Company.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College launches its 2011-2012 season with a special presentation of The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China on Oct 29. For more than 50 years this dazzling company has mesmerized audiences of all ages worldwide with stunning displays of the Chinese martial arts, illusion and acrobatics, all set to traditional music. From cycling stunts to highflying acrobatics to extraordinary feats of balance, this is one of the most influential large acrobatic troupes on the planet.
