-COMEDY/VARIETY-

What ever happened to the meanest little girl in the West? Find out on Aug 13, when actor, comedian and AIDS activist Alison Arngrim, who is perhaps best known as nasty Nellie Oleson from the hit ‘70s television series Little House on the Prairie, presents Nellie Oleson: Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. Confessions is back in New York for one night after an international tour, so throw on your bonnet and jump on the chance to glean behind-the-scenes prairie dirt in this uproarious evening of irreverent storytelling and stand-up about life as everyone’s favorite little TV antagonist.

The missing comedic link is back in full effect. On Aug 7, Join host Danny Leary at Gotham Comedy Club for Homo Comicus: A Midsummer Night’s Scream!, a night of sidesplitting entertainment by a gaggle of red-hot LGBT comics and singers including Booth & Pat, Jaffe Cohen, Jim David, Jay D’Ercola, Jessica Kirson and Nancy Witter.

Billed as “the rockin’ lovechild of Tenacious D and the Indigo Girls,” award-winning comedic singing duo Sarah Litzsinger and Kate Reinders explore love’s ups and downs in this Ars Nova special Aug 4 presentation of TASTiSKANK. The blonde bombshells will thrill and delight with such instant classics as “The Sex Song” and “Starbucks,” which are stuffed to the gills with snarky lyrics and surprise laughs.

On Aug 23, Jen Gapay and Thirsty Girl Productions present The Year in Rainbow Finale: The Most Colorful Burlesque Blowout of the Year! This unique event is the culmination of Darlinda-Just-Darlinda’s The Year in Rainbow, a living art project launched in summer ‘07, featuring different color-themed performances for each month of the year. The Finale is a burlesque extravaganza of the most colorful performers from each rainbow month, including Amber Ray, The Animal Crackers, Amy Animal, Bambi the Mermaid, Bunny Love, Clams Casino, Dr Lukki, Glenn Marla, Little Brooklyn, Pinkie Special, Sequinette, Shelly The Singing Siren and Miss Saturn, plus surprise guests.

Speaking of burlesque, when it comes to sizzling live entertainment, “middle-aged male” Murray Hill is the host with the most. On Aug 8, join Hill and his bevy of beauties at Corrio for This is Burlesque, a dazzling weekly speakeasy-inspired review featuring performances by The World Famous Pontani Sisters, Melody Sweets and Peekaboo Pointe.
