Presented by the Down Town Girlz, the weekly bash Girls Night Out to Act Out takes over The Phoenix on Saturday nights. The first lesbian-owned LGBT bar in the East Village in almost a decade, The Phoenix blends vaguely medieval décor (vaulted windows, pews for seating) with a good ol’ dive bar atmosphere. DJ Stacy holds court among a mixed audience of gay girls and boys, along with a rotating roster of the scene’s best DJs. On November 12, Girls Night Out hosts a special charity event to support at-risk youth sponsored by the Life Is Good Kids Foundation. Donations will help children overcome life-threatening situations, including violence, poverty and illness. And with zero cover charge and cheap drinks, you won’t have an excuse not to drop a couple bucks for a good cause!
