As the holiday lineups start to take shape, one upcoming title is already catching sparks. Lifetime’s The Firefighter’s Christmas Wish brings a sapphic twist to the usual seasonal formula, centering its romance on two women who find connection amidst community service and power hoses.

According to the official synopsis, “When firefighter Dani Reed (Holly Deveaux) rescues a family just before Christmas, she reignites her late mother’s ‘Holiday Heroes’ fundraiser to help the community. With her ambitious sister Jackie, charming photographer Sasha, and supportive dad by her side, Dani finds love, purpose, and the courage to step into true leadership.” Are you feeling inspired yet?

Kyana Teresa, who plays photographer Sasha DuBois, posted the film’s poster on Instagram and spoke about why projects like this are important. “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be able to represent positive queer characters and stories especially during a time when we desperately need it most,” she wrote. “LGTBQ+ rights are under attack, queer media is being quietly removed from our screens, and anything we can do to show up, be visible and remain resilient in the face of it all is an absolute WIN.”

The movie arrives at a time when women firefighters are having a much-deserved moment online. Anyone who has seen the New Zealand firefighters’ calendar can understand the draw.

Teresa has said the release date is still unconfirmed, though the expectation is that it will premiere before Christmas. According to Toronto-based production company Grit and Grace, The Firefighter’s Christmas Wish will premiere on the W Network in Canada on December 21st, with a US airdate coming soon.
