Professional Women’s Hockey team, the New York Sirens, will finally play in Madison Square Garden, when they face off against the Seattle Torrent, on Saturday, April 4 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The matchup will be the first time that the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) drops the puck at the Garden with a fan-attended audience. The venue change from across the river will make for an easy commute for Big Apple fans, old and new, to cheer on their favorite players.
“Madison Square Garden has a storied women’s sports history, and on April 4, the New York Sirens will add their own chapter at The World’s Most Famous Arena, as fans get the chance to attend professional women’s hockey at the Garden for the first time,” General Manager Pascal Daoust said in a team announcement. “Playing at the Garden is an honor and sharing it with our dedicated fans will make it even more special. New York doesn’t just watch moments; it lives with them.”
The Garden has long been the epicenter of milestone moments in sports, as well as the stage of choice for some of the world’s most elite athletes to showcase their talent – from the historic all-female boxing event featuring the sold-out 2022 bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, to tennis legend Billie Jean, Serena Williams, and Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League is comprised of eight teams from North America, four each from the United States and Canada. The New York Sirens have been playing the majority of their home games at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey so bringing the third and final regular season matchup between the two teams to New York is an exciting proposition. The MSG debut might even see a U.S. attendance record for the sport, given the venue’s capacity to hold 18,000 (Seattle set the bar last November with 16,014 fans at Climate Pledge Arena).
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. ET and are available here.
