Country star Maren Morris is speaking out after an unsettling moment at a recent show when a fan grabbed her without consent. The Grammy-winning artist shared the experience on Instagram Stories on August 22, making it clear she was not going to let the incident slide.

“Hi y’all. Tonight’s show was so fun, but someone grabbed my ass during [the] meet-and-greet before the show,” Morris wrote. She went on to explain that while the encounter was upsetting, it would not stop her from continuing to meet fans. “I’m going to continue them because one person shouldn’t ruin it for everyone, but please know I’m there to connect, share, hug, all the things but please don’t override someone’s personal space. love you.”

Morris was in Michigan on her Dreamsicle Tour when the incident occurred.

Last year, Morris came out as bisexual in a Pride Month Instagram post, a moment she later described as overdue. In an interview with TZR, she said, “I’ve always known that I am attracted to men and women. I think because I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.”

She continues The Dreamsicle Tour across North America and into Europe later this year.
