It was another huge win for Team USA, this time on the romance field. Women’s hockey captain Hilary Knight and speed skater Brittany Bowe are officially engaged. The happy couple’s announcement last week on IG had fans obsessed with both their gorgeous love story – and how gay it is to propose in sweats. In the video post, Knight gets on one knee to pop the question and puts a ring on it (specifically, a thin band with inlaid diamonds).
“Olympics brought us together,” Knight wrote in the caption. “This one made us forever.”
The two initially met back in PyeongChang in 2018, and had their first date walk in 2022 through the Olympic Village of the Winter Games in Beijing. Shortly after, keeping true to lesbian U-Haul tradition, they bought a home together in Salt Lake City, Utah, close to the training grounds for the U.S. speed skating team.

Bowe holds four world records, six world championships and has earned two Olympic bronze medals for her speed on the ice – in addition to owning 91 World Cup medals and 22 national titles. The speedster took 4th place in the 1500m on Feb. 20 in Milan, in what has been announced as her final Olympic appearance. Fans are eager to know whether she will compete at the World Championships in March.

As for her fiancée, Knight made history in Milan with her 15th career goal at the Olympics, and secured her second Olympic gold when the USA defeated Canada in overtime to claim victory on Feb. 19. With 20 years on the national team, she is the most decorated athlete in U.S. women’s hockey history. Knight was also named inaugural IIHF Female Player of the Year in 2023. Last year, she led Team USA and won her record 10th gold medal at the world championships. This will be the forward’s fifth and final Olympic competition.
Well-wishers across the globe are still swooning over the happy Olympic ending and new fairy-tale beginning for the duo.
“We met through the Olympics and just being a part of the Olympic spirit and the journey,” Knight said after proposing, per Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics press.
“I thought it would be a really full-circle moment for both of us considering it’s our last time through, to be able to celebrate it here and tie the knot.”
