Hayley Kiyoko Just Announced An All-Queer Cast For Her Upcoming Audiobook

We know who’s playing Kiyoko’s love interest.

Lesbian Jesus AKA Hayley Kiyoko announced the cast of her audiobook this week, and it is as gay as we had hoped and imagined. Natalie Naudus (a professional audiobook narrator), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Malia Pylers (HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars reboot), and Katie Gavin (the lead singer of MUNA, arguably the queerest girl band on the planet, tied with boygenius) will join Kiyoko in voicing the characters from her book. The book is called Girls Like Girls and comes out next month.

“They have all made such a positive impact on the queer community through their art and by living their authentic truth each and every day,” Kiyoko said of the cast in an Instagram post. “I couldn’t have asked for a better cast to help me tell this story.”

Pyles shared in Kiyoko’s excitement, posting the announcement to her Instagram story with the caption “queer literature is so sooooo important!!! and my gay ass heart is so happy! can’t wait for you to hear @hayleykiyoko’s amazing story.”

Girls Like Girls is inspired by Kiyoko’s song and video of the same name. The story will feature a 17-year-old girl named Corey, who moves to Oregon with her father after her mother passes away. There, she meets a girl named Sonya, and… we have to read to find out! But one can guess it’ll be queer AF.

Naudus tweeted that she will be playing the part of Sonya, but no other information has been shared about what roles the other selected queer cast-members will play.

Both the novel and the audiobook version of Girls Like Girls come out on May 30 and we can’t wait to see what queer literary magic unfolds.
