GO’s Best of Lesbian/Bi/Queer Women Pop Culture 2016

2016 has been ripe with bad news, hard losses and tragic events, right up until the very end. But there was a lot to celebrate for queer women as well that should not go unmentioned as we close another year. This is GO’s list of the best in Lesbian/Bi Pop Culture.

Best Album

Tegan and Sara, “Love You to Death.”  Prolific, consistent and queerer than ever before, Tegan and Sara’s eighth LP show how the twin sisters can expand on the tiny empire they’ve built of hard and fast lusty love songs and emotionally intense slow rides. From their first single “Boyfriend” (the not so familiar pop music theme about pining after a straight girl) to the attention-seeking “Stop Desire,” Tegan and Sara continue to deliver the songs that express just how we’re feeling without having to switch up the situations and the pronouns.
