Fans Are Eating Up Reneé Rapp’s Unfiltered New Single
Reneé Rapp’s new song “Why Is She Still Here?” is out and fans are loving it.
It’s quite the month to be a Reneé Rapp fan. With her new album Bite Me set to come out on August 1, the pop star has been doing press, releasing singles, and generating online chatter nonstop.
Her latest single, “Why Is She Still Here?” already has fans in a chokehold over the unapologetically messy lyrics. Illustrating the toxic situationship Rapp was seemingly in, she takes listeners through the feeling of knowing you are the other woman and feeling haunted by your lover’s lover.

“You can tell me you don’t love her/ but you should probably tell her too,” Rapp sings to open the song. Unlike the forthcoming album’s other singles, Rapp has returned to her impressive vocal roots and is singing on this track. With a voice that strong, it is refreshing to hear her embrace her Broadway-level talent while continuing to serve her artistic image.

The line that gagged the fans the most, however, was, “I didn’t say shit when you introduced me as your friend (Uh-huh) / And yes, that’s what it is, but don’t you do that shit again / It’s funny ’cause it didn’t feel like friends on the kitchen floor.” If there is one thing Rapp knows how to capture, it’s the toxic messiness rampant in the lesbian community. I just know far too many of y’all can relate to this track.

While her fandom was melting down over the new single, Rapp herself was attending the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, where her namesake trophy, the “Reneé Rapp Award for Power in Lesbianism” was given out. The award show will stream on Bravo on August 5. Our money is on Muna or Carabiner to win Rapp’s namesake prize.
