13th Annual Tribeca Film Festival, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, GLAAD Media Awards

Filmmakers and festival goers, mark your calendars for the 13th Annual Tribeca Film Festival with events starting Apr 16-27 in various theaters around the city. This year’s festival will once again screen films from around the globe and feature related events including a three-day Tribeca Drive-in at the World Financial Center Plaza, street fair, special festival for fans of the latest independent sports films, panel conversations with filmmakers and actors, star-studded red carpets and much more.

Neil Patrick Harris will star in the Broadway premiere of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask’s musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch opening at the Belasco Theatre Apr 22. The story revolves around internationally ignored song stylist Hedwig Robinson who brings her fourth-wall-smashing rock and roll saga to New York to set the record straight about her life, her loves and the botched operation that left her with that "angry inch."

Nominees have been announced for the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, presented by Ketel One Vodka, Wells Fargo and Hilton Worldwide, to be held in Los Angeles on Apr 12 and New York on May 3. The yearly, star-studded event recognizes and honors media for outstanding images of the LGBT community. Among this year's nominees are the smash-hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black, ABC Family’s The Fosters, and the lesbian-themed feature film, Blue Is the Warmest Color, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
