A selection of Juneteenth events through this weekend.

Juneteenth at the Bush – Finding Your Ancestors Workshop & Dance Party

June 19, 6 PM-9 PM – The Bush

Curious about your lineage? Go to The Bush on Juneteenth to learn how to uncover your ancestry, collect and preserve family stories, navigate historical records and reclaim narratives to empower future generations. The workshop will last two hours and no experience is required. Tickets can be purchased here

The workshop will be followed up with a free dance party from 9 PM until late with DJs Adapta and Alysia.

Frolic: Black Burlesque Revue: Juneteenth Edition

June 19 ,7:30 PM – C’mon Everyone

Frolic, NYC’s longest-running Black Burlesque show, is ready to celebrate Juneteenth with an electrifying performance honoring ancestry and culture. Featuring host Foxy Belle Afriq alongside cast members Cece Brownsugah, Abby Fantastic, Ilove Grate and Vera Safire, this is a show you won’t want to miss. Tickets can be purchased here. 

NYC Core Juneteenth Celebration 

June 19, 2 PM-7 PM – Mocada Culture Lab II

Join Emmy Winning Tyrik Washington, the NYC Commission on Racial Equity, Councilmember Crystal Hudson and Senator Jabari Brisport for a celebration of Juneteenth with free food, live music and a special presentation on land and reparations. RSVP here.

Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth

June 19, 11 AM-12:30 PM – Times Square

Presented by the Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative, the Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth free concert will feature performers from 15 different shows. Two-time Tony nominee Jon Michael Hill and 2025 Tony winner Kara Young will host this year’s concert and will present icon André De Shields with the Juneteenth Legacy Award. 

Queer Brown Babes Juneteenth Beach Day

June 19, 11 AM-3 PM – Jacob Riis Beach

Celebrate Juneteenth with your Queer Brown Babes for a potluck picnic beach day. There will be bubbles, snacks, games and all are encouraged to bring food, drinks or fun stuff to share. RSVP here.

Oh Sankofa!: A Juneteenth Celebration

June 19, 6 PM – Hearst Plaza and Damrosch Park

This year’s fifth annual free Juneteenth celebration at Lincoln Center explores themes of cultural identity, societal norms and significant historical events through the lens of African folklore. The celebration honors this rich legacy through music, choral performances, dance, animal tales and educational fables. 

Juneteenth Pride Boxing Class

June 19, 7 PM – 8 PM – Haven Boxing

The Black LGBTQ+ community is invited to attend this special Juneteenth boxing class that honors and celebrates resilience, strength and community. Book here

Root & Rise – Grounding Yoga Practice for Juneteenth 

June 19, 7 PM-9 PM – Boyfriend Co-op

This 75-minute yoga class, specifically for Black community members, is a space for collective healing, reflection and restoration led by Carleen Shankle. RSVP here

Celebrate Juneteenth in Historic Seneca Village

June 19, 12:30 PM – Seneca Village Landscape

Celebrate Juneteenth with the Central Park Conservancy and an intergenerational community of musicians and poets in the historic Seneca Village landscape in Central Park. Through performances and poetry, the event will engage with the history of Seneca Village and deepen the collective awareness of this 19th-century free Black community while bridging past and present. 

Julie J Presents: A very Black Drag Show

June 19, 6 PM – 3 Dollar Bill

Join Julie J and others for a night-long celebration of Black drag, Black culture and collective liberation. The show will feature over 40+ local drag performers, stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and many, many more. Tickets can be purchased here

Boyfriend Juneteenth Dance Party 

June 20, 9:30 PM – Boyfriend Co-op

Get on the dance floor and celebrate Black joy with DJs KimKilla and Geexella. Tickets range from $6 for Black party-goers, $12 for non-Black party-goers and $19 reparation pay. Tickets can be purchased here

Unapologetic: Our Celebration of Queer Black Love

June 2,0 8 PM – Cathedral of St. John the Divine

This free event presented by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus will honor the intersectionality of being Black and queer through person stories, soulful solos and unforgettable music performed by the group’s Black-identifying singers. Reserve free tickets here

Gotham FC Juneteenth Celebration

June 21, 7:30 PM – Sports Illustrated Stadium

Join Gotham FC as they face Bay FC and honor Black excellence both on the field and in the community. There will be performances and programming highlighting guests from the local community and celebrating the Black experience. Tickets can be purchased here.

Juneteenth Community Clothing Swap 

June 22, 11 AM-5 PM – Boyfriend Co-op

This Juneteenth edition of Boyfriend’s ‘Free Thrift’ is where you can swap your fits, snag some new looks and celebrate Black freedom and futures through mutual aid and collective abundance. This time around only summer season clothing will be accepted.
