Chappell Roan Is Bringing Her Midwest Princess Project To Australia To Support Local LGBTQ+ Groups

A portion of the proceeds from Roan’s festival headline shows will support local trans and gender diverse community groups.

Chappell Roan’s upcoming Australian tour is doing more than anchoring one of the continent’s biggest summer festivals. Through her nonprofit, the Midwest Princess Project, the pop artist is directing festival proceeds toward local LGBTQ+ organizations, tying her Laneway Festival headline slot to concrete support for the queer community.

As the headliner of Laneway Festival 2026, Roan is bringing the Midwest Princess Project Down Under. Through Laneway’s Solar Slice initiative, one dollar from every ticket sold will be directed toward sustainability and charitable projects, including two Australian LGBTQ+ organizations personally selected by Roan.

Founded in October, the Midwest Princess Project was created to “uplift trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities through action, care, and connection.” The nonprofit has already raised $400,000 during Roan’s 2025 Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things tour, with funds distributed to grassroots organizations across the United States.

“[T]hose funds will be donated to incredible organizations making a positive impact for trans youth in their communities,” Roan said when the project launched. “Outside of transaction fees to host the donation page and limited costs for my team to effectively manage the project, we have committed to donating every dollar possible to the organizations that need it most.”

For Laneway, those dollars will support Transcend Australia and Transgender Victoria, two organizations providing vital resources to trans, gender diverse, and non-binary people.

Transcend Australia, which supports trans and gender diverse young people and their families nationwide, welcomed the partnership with enthusiasm.

“This generosity will directly support peer connection, family support and life-saving resources for trans and gender-diverse young people and their families,” said CEO of Transcend Australia, Susanne Prosser.

“Chappell’s support sends a powerful message to trans young people everywhere: you belong, you are loved, and you deserve to shine exactly as you are. That’s authentic allyship. We couldn’t be prouder.”

Transgender Victoria, a leading advocacy organization for trans and gender diverse communities across the state, echoed that sentiment in a statement.

“Transgender Victoria is HOT TO GO on this partnership with Laneway Festival and Chappell Roan’s Midwest Princess Project,” a TGV spokesperson said.

“We’re huge fans of Chappell’s music, and even bigger fans of her genuine allyship and bringing the celebration of our trans communities to major cultural events. Collaborations like this are crucial to fostering a sense of belonging, visibility and joy for all our communities and allies.”

The 2026 lineup also includes Wolf Alice, PinkPantheress, Wet Leg, Lucy Dacus, and a strong slate of local artists like Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Blusher, and Djanaba. After Laneway 2025 drew more than 200,000 fans, expectations are high that next year could be even bigger.

Charitable giving has become a consistent thread throughout Roan’s rapid rise. In 2024, her fanbase raised over $160,000 for queer and reproductive rights organizations. Proceeds from her 2023 tour supported For The Gworls, a charity assisting Black trans people with rent, gender-affirming surgeries, and other essentials. Earlier this year, following her Grammys acceptance speech calling for livable wages and healthcare for artists, Roan donated $25,000 to Backline, an organization providing financial and mental health support to music industry workers. She has also resold fan-made friendship bracelets and signed merchandise to raise funds for Palestinian relief efforts.
