Prepare to get emotional over the cuteness. Christian Shearhod, A California dad and TikToker, shared a video last week in which he takes his 3-year-old son, Ashton, to the nail salon after his teacher told him that painting nails was “only for girls.”
“My son came home from school really upset because his teacher told him that painting your nails is only for girls, so today I’m taking him to the nail shop,” Shearhod said in the video. Shearod and his girlfriend encourage Ashton to pick out whatever color he wants, and he excitedly declares, “I want pink!”

Ashton is filled with joy when his dad’s girlfriend also gets her nails painted pink. As Ashton smiles and shows off his new mani pedi, Shearod wrote over the video, “let little boys like what they like… Trucks, Spider-Man, Paw Patrol &&& maybe painting his nails.”
Shearhod spoke to Ashton’s teacher about the incident, respectfully asking that such comments are no longer made to him. “I really just wanted to make sure that he didn’t have guilt or shame, because it is something that he enjoyed, and we had done together multiple times,” Shearhod told NBC News.

As a Los Angeles county teacher himself, Shearhod told NBC News “I just want to inspire students to really want to be themselves, unfiltered.”
