NY Nightlife: The Scene

April 3-May 1. Shescape, Sage’s Spring Fever and more…

Super Saturdays

Work yourself into a nightlife tizzy hopping from hot spot to sexy soiree this spring. In addition to our beloved regulars, there are tons of special events spicing up the craziest night of the week!

Hey, Playmates

Don your best cottontail and long, white ears for Shescape’s Sexy Bunny Bash on Saturday, April 18. Shescape is heading to a hot new locale in SoHo—the fancy and fabulous Barolo—for their fantastic spring dance party. Hundreds of the hottest bunny-lovin’ babes will be on hand to help you celebrate the season. DJ Francesca Magliano is on the decks, spinning house, hip-hop, Latin and reggaeton and the sweet go-go girls will writhe until the wee hours of the morning. If you’re the type to put all your Easter eggs in one basket, this is the place to be.

Feeling Feverish?

They say things get better with age, and the women who attend Spring Fever year after year would certainly agree with that sentiment. Join them Saturday, April 26 at 3pm (that’s afternoon ladies) at the fun and fabulous annual dance just for women, which benefits the amazing organization Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders. DJ Nancy B returns to the former China Club, now known as Opera, for the festivities. Since 1978, SAGE has worked tirelessly to address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elders to overcome the challenges of discrimination in senior service settings and to be an essential component in the creation of informal caregiving support and development of new “family” networks. Don’t miss this opportunity to give your support to SAGE.

National Growth

The midtown nightclub Nation has played host to scores of gorgeous gals every Saturday for as long as anyone can remember, with house DJ Stacy taking charge of the dance floors, and “Best Doorperson” Diana, “Best Bartender Therapist” Kristine and promoter Hana making sure everyone has an incredible time. But this month, GirlNation is stepping things up with a special event on April 25—Unite in Fashion. Gorgeous girl group Amblu makes a guest appearance, and aspiring rappers have the opportunity to get on da mic for an all-female rap battle. The rest of the month, you can enjoy all your favorite Girlnation features, like fire-blowing bartenders and whipped-cream totin’ Jell-O shot girls. (And of course, don’t forget that GirlNation heads downtown to the legendary Stonewall Inn on the last Friday of the month—that’d be April 24!)

Sweet and Creamy

Brooklyn-based Starlette fans are rejoicing now that beloved promoter Wanda has joined forces with bartendrix Bea to bring LGBT party vibes to the far-reaches of the borough. Milk and Sugar is BK’s newest queer dance party, located at the super-hot new music venue Bell House in Gowanus every Saturday night. DJ Audi Mansell fills the halls of these warehouse-like digs with house, electro-remixes and the classics. Take to the dance floor with your gay boyfriend or chill in the lounge with a new lady love. Steamy visuals are provided by HEATnyc, but we’re sure there will already be plenty of eye candy to keep you focused.

And don’t miss…

Wet and Wild

Henrietta Hudson has something great in store every day of the week, but their newest Sunday night party Cream Rinse is a “cut” above (get it?). A highlight (hahaha) of this mixed LGBTQ party hosted by Lisa C is none other than the incredible DJ BK, who will be spinning old skool, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, rock, funk, soul pop and electronica. And, as Lisa C says, Cream Rinse is full of “cheap drinks, loose women.” After a day of rest, catching up on sports on Henrietta’s multi screens, we’re ready to wash up and get dancing.

Prescription: Park Slope

Feeling under the weather? 249 Bar Lounge has got your cure—that’s Cure Thursdays, the newest gathering at this two-floor Park Slope hotspot. It doesn’t cost you a dime to get into this weekly after-work wind-down. Try your hand at a game of pool or just hang with your friends on their (finally seasonal) outdoor smoking deck (hello, spring!). If you are looking for a delicious evening, Taste the Rainbow Fridays provides a taste of pink in 249’s delicious Pink Vodka and champagne cocktails for just $5. Here’s to the weekend! DJ Mark James creates the house and classics soundtrack. And BKLYN Storm plays hip-hop, R&B and old skool jams at Saturday Nite Sessions. 249 Bar Lounge is the new kid on the block, and their grand opening bash will be happening soon, so make sure to stop in or get on their list to hear about the latest!
