10 Most Kissable Lippies For Lipstick Lesbians

Mwah!

Lipstick is fun and so is kissing girls—the possibilities for both are endless and, occasionally, overwhelming. How can you know what will stay on and what will immediately fade away or end up all over your date’s face? I polled my friends for their faves and dug through my own makeup bag for these top 10—all which are available everywhere from fancy department stores to your friendly neighborhood Walgreens. My pro tips? You can make any lippie last longer by patting on some Tarte finishing powder, and it’s easy to get rid of the colorful evidence with Neutrogena makeup remover wipes (my personal favorite). Happy eating, drinking, and smooching!

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

My fellow femmes positively RAVE about this bish. It lasts up to 16 hours, and that’s not just the PR talking. Available in 10 shades, the tube even features an arrow-shaped applicator to guarantee your lip game is on point. Apply, then drink coffee, eat Thai food, brush your teeth, sing karaoke, and embark on your first makeout of the summer. Reapplying? Who needs it? Bonus: Maybelline is available at most drugstores, and this particular lippie is under $10!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

I can’t be the only one who first heard of Anastasia Beverly Hills on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Not only is the brand glam AF, their colors have fun names like Poet (a medium-toned mauve that won’t take you back to the ‘80s) and Requiem (a dark teal with metallic edge). This liquid lipstick won’t smudge when you smoosh faces with your girl, and it doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates (spoiler: they’re all bad). According to the ABH website, you can even mix them together for that perfect custom shade!

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick

Both my beauty industry and performer friends love them some Jeffree Star. Sheer staying power is this liquid lipstick’s main draw (we’re talking long workdays and nights, followed by dinner and drinks), but the fabulous shades don’t hurt either. “You’re Off the Property” is a sparkling royal blue that reminds me of Rainbow Brite’s dress! Not a fan of Starr’s controversial politics? No worries: Wet n Wild Catsuit Matte Liquid Lipstick is a comparable—and more cost-effective—alternative.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick

When you don’t have $20 or more to spend on lip color, but you still want it to be good, ColourPop is your girl. Even the name is fun! It’s lightweight enough not to dry out, and the bold shades will make your kisser stand out to any lovely who’s looking your way. My fave is “T’d Up”, a perfect marriage of red and purple. As if these selling points weren’t enough, this lippie is vegan, cruelty-free, and (drumroll please) only $7! As long as you’re saving money, why not splurge on more than one? You’re worth it.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Comfort Matte

It’s not just for angsty Gen X-ers anymore! Urban Decay has its Doc Martens planted firmly in the 21st century with this buttery, vitamin-packed lipstick. Available in a plethora of colors, the Vice lipstick is chock-full of goodness: aloe vera, jojoba, and avocado will keep your mouth soft and oh-so-kissable. Even the tube is gorgeous—a modern variation on the old-school case in silver and gold, with a label that’ll make it easy to find in your purse, pack, or pocket. Try one of the neutrals for a natural pout or “Heroine” (a deep navy blue) if you’re feeling especially saucy.

Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick

Confession time: I have at least one of these on me at any given moment. The “Always Red” shade is like a magic trick to make me look glamorous, even when I feel disgusting. I’ve earned quite a few kisses while wearing it, too. Sephora’s cream lip stain lasts all day—or night—and, thanks to avocado oil, feels soft to both kisser and kissee. The color possibilities are endless, as is the shine potential: matte, metallic, or even glitter. And, at $14, this magic tube won’t break the bank.

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince

“Why would anyone pay $25 for lipstick?” your summer fling asks. “Science,” you reply. Frog Prince is the “Wicked” of lippies, as in it will blow your mind just like the first time you heard Idina Menzel slay “Defying Gravity.” Like Wicked Witch-in-training Elphaba, the lipstick is green—until you apply, that is. Then, it reacts with your pH balance and skin tone, resulting in a lovely, natural shade that’s uniquely you. It even feels good, thanks to vitamin E and shea butter. Pretty and enduring, Frog Prince is worth every penny; put it on to find your princess.

Sugarpill Liquid Lip Color

There’s so much to love about Sugarpill: the colors are fun, the formula won’t rub off on your partner(s), and best of all, the company is woman-owned! Also, the glittery shades go on matte but reveal their sparkly selves as the time-release formula takes effect. Want to activate the glitter right away? After you apply, count 60 Mississippis and press your lips together. Finally, Sugarpill Liquid Lip Color smells like Creamsicle—a sweet and nostalgic scent for both you and your girl to enjoy.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor

MAC is the grandmom of lipstick and deserves a shout-out in any kiss-ticle. At $22, Retro Matte isn’t exactly cheap, but you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck. An applicator that guarantees sleek shape, a finish that screams old-school glamour, and eight hours of wear that won’t budge during a smoochfest? Sign me up. That’s to say nothing of the beauteous color palette; my favorite is “High Drama,” a dark plum that favors multiple skin tones and describes lesbian dating in one fell swoop!

Lipslut in F*ck Kavanaugh

Last August, Lipslut used nationally-televised misogyny to their advantage and released a fetching red that lasts way longer than any nasty-ass congressman ever will. A friend wore this over a girls’ weekend in Portland, where much eating, drinking, talking and kissing ensued, and F*ck Kavanaugh stayed put the entire time. Plus, 50% of all proceeds from this lipstick go to anti-sexual assault organizations. Now there’s a conversation starter!

From a phenomenal startup with the mission of creating “queer makeup for queer people,” Fluide is where it’s at. Their liquid lipstick is advertised as “coffee and kiss-proof” and goes on light and smooth, so what more does a lipstick lesbian need? Not only that, but Liquid Lipstick comes in a variety of vibrant shades, so you can match your mood to your smile (or pout, as it were). My personal favorite is Babetown, a bright pink modeled by none other than Jacob Tobia, media darling and author of the new memoir Sissy. I know where I’m spending my next paycheck!
