“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence,” said TDOR founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith.

Around the country, LGBTQ+ centers, organizations, universities, and activist groups will hold events and memorials in honor of the ongoing fight for trans rights.

The most recent death occurred on November 4, when Marquiisha Lawrence was found shot to death in her home in Greenville, South Carolina.  

On Friday, police announced that the two men, Dontarius Long and Joel Brewer, had both been charged with two counts of murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
