SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival New York, a non-profit film festival founded by SAG-AFTRA actress Nora Armani, launches its 5th edition March 16-22, 2018 at Cinema ViIlage, The School of Visual Arts MFA Social Documentary Film campus and The Center for Remembering and Sharing. This year’s line-up includes five narrative feature films, 13 documentary features, 40 short films and 10 VR/360º films from 35 countries. In addition, 7 feature film script finalists compete for best script. Opening film on the 16th is followed by a reception at Villanelle. The Closing Night Awards Ceremony takes place on March 22, at Cinema Village followed by a Party at Doux Supperclub. The Mission of the SR Film Festival is to shine the spotlight on filmmakers who tell socially relevant™, compelling, human-interest stories, across a broad range of social issues such as women, immigration, climate change, mental health, disability, social justice, LGBTQ rights, and more. The festival was created in response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling in media and entertainment. SRFF believes in the power of cinema in raising awareness towards social issues and promoting positive social change. Early Bird tickets are on sale now for a limited time only on Eventbrite.
