“40 years and we’re still here!” says Muriel Miguel–Artistic Director of Spiderwoman Theater, a beloved stalwart of New York’s downtown theatre scene who will celebrate 40 years of stirring productions with a gala celebration at La MaMa on September 19th. Friends and collaborators from the theater community such as Talking Band, and Split Britches’ Lois Weaver and Peggy Shaw will perform live sets, and tributes from artists such as Taylor Mac will play to honor the group’s significant contributions to Native, feminist, and avant-garde theatre.

Musical performances are expected from singer Soni Moreno, La MaMa Safe Harbors Indigenous Collective director Murielle Borst-Tarrant, and Kevin Tarrant and the SilverCloud Singers–among others. Acclaimed First Nations electronic group A Tribe Called Red will cap the evening in a spirited dance party. The press release is attached below including additional details!
