Lesbian Library Day at SNFL
July 12, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
Free
It’s a lesbian takeover of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library! Lesbian spaces have unfortunately been rapidly declining over the last few decades. Lesbian Library Day responds to this crisis of community with an opportunity to come together, open to adults of all gender expressions and sexualities.
You can expect not only to meet someone new, but there will also be an optional library scavenger hunt, free giveaways, and two separate spaces: one for socializing, and the other for silent reading with others. Bring a sapphic title to swap, or check out one from our collection!
There is only one rule: don’t leave without learning a stranger’s name!
This event is open to adults aged 18+, of all gender expressions and all sexualities—meaning, anyone who feels comfortable being in-community with lesbians, whatever that label means to you.
To join the event in person | Doors will open 15 minutes before the program begins. For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. All registered spaces are released shortly before start time, and seats may become available at that time. A standby line will form 30 minutes before the program.
Lesbian Library Day is the vision of community organizer and SNFL patron Amber Flannery Field. Amber is a Fellow for the Interfaith Center of New York for her work running the “Punks of Color” teen punk shows through Brooklyn Quakers. She is also a tour guide. New York Magazine called her one of their “things we love about New York,” and CBC Radio described her as “the only good tour guide in New York City”.
All programs are subject to change or cancellation. All programs are subject to recording and photography.
