FAGGOTICA is a dark, glittering, transgender romp through a dreamy goth nightclub at the edge of the world. Set to a drool-worthy soundtrack of nostalgic 80s goth and art club music, FAGGOTICA transforms the dancefloor into an altar as five dancers fling themselves head first into the night as if their very bodies and hearts are their offerings. FAGGOTICA IS A MANIFESTO FOR TRANS BLISS AND DIVINITY.

FAGGOTICA is a dark, glittering romp through a dreamy goth nightclub at the edge of the world. Set to a soundtrack of nostalgic 80s goth and art club music, FAGGOTICA transforms the dance-floor into an altar of transexual joy as five dancers fling themselves head first into the night as if their very bodies are their offerings. Here, time, place, and sound all blur as the landscape oscillates between quiet intimacy and bombastic, collective dance. We observe as trans bodies collide and fall apart. As trans bodies pray viciously. As trans bodies fuck, dream, connect, and reflect. As trans bodies transcend. Somewhere, out there in the glittering fog, in the driving bass, the warbling synth, utter sublimation collides with the sublime. FAGGOTICA is a manifesto for trans bliss.

With references to iconically cis-gay filmography like Fassbinder’s Querelle, trans discourse like Susan Stryker’s My Words to Victor Frankenstein Above the Village of Chamounix: Performing Trans Rage, and cultural/social dance discourse like Tricia Henry Young’s Dancing on Bela Lugosi’s Grave: The Politics and Aesthetics of Gothic Club DancingFAGGOTICA strikes a relationship between goth/darkwave nightlife and the divine experience of being trans.

CW: This show contains fog, strobe, some nudity and loud sound.
